Who am I
Hi, I’m Melissa Scannell, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of experience specializing in complex trauma and integrative, trauma-informed care.
Early in my career, I served as a Clinical Director for a UHS hospital system, where I managed teams of therapists, trained staff across multiple hospitals in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and helped develop new residential treatment facilities and programs throughout the United States. Eventually, I opened my own Joint Commission-accredited hospital system, creating an intensive outpatient program focused on comprehensive, individualized care.
During this time, I experienced a significant personal trauma. Seeking trauma informed therapy for myself, I quickly realized that conventional approaches were not fully meeting my needs and I wondered, is this truly what I am offering the people I serve?
This experience prompted a deeper inquiry into how healing occurs and what it truly means to support others in transformative work. That turning point led me to explore integrative and emerging therapeutic models and ultimately to pursue specialized training through MAPS in MDMA and psilocybin-assisted therapy frameworks.
My credentials include:
State Licensed in Indiana (LMHC), Colorado (LPC), and New Mexico (LPCC)
MAPS Training in MDMA and Psilocybin Therapy
Trainings in Ketamine-Assisted Therapy
3-year long completion of Indigenous Healing Practices
Reiki Master Teacher (RMT)
EMDR I and II
Expertise in Hypnosis and Guided Meditation
Specialized Trainings in Sound Healing
Intensively Trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Advanced Training in Remote Viewing
My work integrates evidence-based practices, holistic approaches, and spiritual wisdom to support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, and personal growth. I am especially drawn to working with individuals exploring meaning, identity, spirituality, and integration of transformative life experiences.
I offer 90-minute sessions and utilize a restorative pricing model that prioritizes accessibility and ethical care. I believe each person carries deep inner wisdom, and my work is centered on supporting clients in reconnecting with that wisdom with clarity, self-compassion, and authenticity.
I have a special passion for supporting veterans and first responders, honoring their experiences and providing trauma-informed care to help navigate stress, trauma, and the healing process with respect and compassion.
It is an honor to witness and support each client’s journey, and I look forward to walking alongside you.
